Furry Fridays – Allison of Okay Allison

FurryFriday-1

Brought to you by Steph and Becky!
Today we have Allison and her super cute 'grand-pup' Whitney!

This is myself and my grand-dog Whitey. Although he is not technically "MY DOG" (he belongs to my mother) he is mine, since he is the progeny of two of my dogs, Piddle and Chivo. Whitey has a personality that cannot be ignored, much like myself, so perhaps that's why I chose to highlight him out of the SIX dogs currently living at the house I share with my parents.

Whitey, or Y.D. (short for Young Dog, apparently he's in the rap game) is a Chihuahua/Terrier mix, with one crazy tooth askew right on his lower jaw. He looks basically, like a drunk old redneck, a rather shifty used car salesman, or the most adorable creature on earth…at all times.

He does the most adorable things which includes what I like to call the "One-And-A" where he does sort of a half-hearted jump to attempt to get on top of something (couch, chaise, bed) but will do said wimpy jump about six times before he puts in a full effort. He can accomplish it on the first try, believe me. He also tells YOU when you're done petting him. He will SHOVE his head or body under your palm until you get to work.

I love him so much because I can see both his parents in him, and since I love them so much, my heart can only burst for Mr. Y.D.

All You Magazine Preview and Giveaway

I love summer. I love magazines. I love reading magazines on the beach in the summer.

I was offered the opportunity to try out a copy of All You's Summer Fun Special Issue, a magazine about "enjoying life for less." My Holiday weekend did not bring me to the beach, but I did travel and All You was a pleasure to read during an otherwise stressful trip. – So, thank you All You, you made my weekend, (huge smile inserted here! )

AYCover_SFF13_0513_lr

The magazine is full of money saving tips, healthy eating plans, summer crafts and more. What caught most of my attention was the little vacation stories about real families and how they took major trips with little to no budget. I love the tips offered in just those little articles.

Then there are the apps. I'm a big tech Geek when it comes to apps. As I read All You, I had my phone right beside me downloading different apps that were suggested for different summer adventures! I can't wait to try them all out!

The list of ways to entertain your kids fell right into place with our Summer Bucket List Project! There are so many things out there to do for free, it's almost unbelievable!

Since we all love a good bargain, did I mention that this issue of All You is packed with over $27 of coupons for awesome stuff? One of my favs is an Alexia coupon – God I love their Sweet Potato Fries!

This issue is jammed packed full of goodness, I can't share it all. Crafts, recipes and ideas for one of the coolest Luau parties ever also fill the pages.

Is your mouth watering? Is your brain screaming that you need those tips to survive the summer with the kids?

Well your in luck! I am giving away a copy of the Summer Fun Special Issue to 3 of my lovely readers! All you have to do is leave a comment below sharing your family’s favorite, affordable summer activity.

The 3 lucky winners will be chosen using rafflecopter on Wednesday, June 6.

Open to US Residents Only.

Don't forget to check out http://www.allyou.com for more money saving tips and summer fun!

My Lovely Sponsor – April of The Steady Hand

April is the hands behind The Steady Hand.

Here is a little bit about her!

Picture

I currently live in Fort Worth,
TX. All my work is
done in my home in my specially made craft room that my husband put
together for me.

All my products are made by me in my craft room where no one else is
allowed to go…although my daughter manages to sneak in here every now
and then to wrap herself with some yarn. Being a thrifty mom as well, I
buy most of my supplies on sale and/or with coupons that way I can pass
my savings to other mom’s looking for affordable items. All the items I
make are made with a lot of time, patience and love.

The
Steady Hand is also a blogger. I blog about my crafts and share free
patterns and great crochet websites. I also like to share my thoughts on
life and current news articles. You will also find Reviews and awesome
Giveaways…so be sure to check it out!

My Lovely Sponsor – Lisa Barbero

I'm so excited to share a little bit about my sponsor, Lisa Barbero. I think her art is fantastic. Please visit her etsy shop to buy all your gifts for all your needs!!

Visit her site:

LisaBarbero.com

“I decided I was an artist when I was in kindergarten and it took me about 27 years to finally believe it.”

I would definitely say I've had a lifelong and passionate love affair
with making stuff. But then again, I've had an equally lifelong and
passionate love affair with Cap'n Crunch. Yup, the cereal. After years
of putting up with the Cap's bittersweet love, I finally hold the secret
wisdom of being able to eat those sugary, golden nuggets without
cutting up the roof of my mouth. Maybe one day I'll write a book called
"Zen and the Art of Eating Cap'n Crunch". OMG. That's so the *new* title
of my memoirs. It's a fitting replacement for "Jurassic Park Scarred me
for Life".

Oh right. Back to the art stuff. I dig on raw line and the unexpected
and infuse my work with modern color, original typography, and old
fashioned hand drawn imagery. The end result is art with hints of
romance, whimsy, inspiration, and lots of soul.

"I believe in true love, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and lots of simple living. Without taking myself
or my work too seriously, I strive to make beautiful and emotional
things."

I enjoy the whole art making process and can't see a time when I would
ever stop dreaming and creating. I love being inspired by my life, my
environment, and the work of others, then making something completely
unique that can inspire others in turn. I like being a part of that
endless creative cycle.

Georgia to Germany. She currently calls Rochester, New York home where
she lives on an acre and a half of pseudo-suburbia with her soul mate
and their munchkins.

Furry Fridays – Megan of The Nautical Owl

FurryFriday
Brought to you by Steph and Becky!
This Furry Friday features Megan and Jarvis.

Some back story about my little man:

His name is Jarvis (Jarsopholus if you're feelin' fancy, or JarJar if you're spunky) and he is 8 months old.
He is named after Ironman's butler.

 FurrFriday2
He is a bulldog mix. Mix with what? We haven't a clue. Our best guesses are doberman or pitbull.
Unfortunately
our baby boy is diagnosed with malabsorption – a disease that affects
how his body breaks down food to use its vitamins. This is a continuing
saga while learn and adapt to his dietary needs. We are training him to become certified as a canine good citizen which means he can become a therapy dog or do
other charity work with me.
His favorite thing is to do is snuggle with mommy or his brother Hank. And of course, do outfit posts!

FurryFriday1

FurryFriday3
FurryFridays4
Jarvis Pupdate:
His tests came back negative for parasites and his vitals are stable.
Our vet believes he has malabsorption, which is a genetic disease where
his pancreas doesn't make the enzymes needed for him to get nutrients
from food. This explains all his symptoms, most notably his lack of
weight gain. Unfortunately, the blood panels needed to confirm this is
$231, not covering the enzymatic treatment. Little guy has been switched
to a high-protein/high-calorie diet until we can move forward with
making him better

The Jalopy Showdown 2013

We headed out to the Jalopy Showdown at Latimore Valley Fairgrounds last Saturday. It's a great event with awesome cars, dirt track circle racing and great vendors. I picked up a Stray Cat shift knob for the '56 and the kid got some stuff, but really the pictures say it all.

BUT first – we had to do a work related event called, "Touch a Truck". Local trucks are brought to the fairgrounds and the kids can play on them, beep the horns and sit in the driver's seat. We had to take a couple of buses there AND look what we found – an old Trolley – how cool.

So here's what we wore:

The Geek: A 1940's dress that I picked up at the 2012 Jalopy Showdown with retro sandals I scored at a rummage sale. The 1950's wool hat with that crazy arrow I found at a thrift shop!

The Kid: A 1950's pinafore with an awesome fish pocket that we bought on eBay for $2. (plus Dorthy Sparkle Red Shoes)

The Hubs: The Ten Penny Ale shirt he got for getting our favorite CT beer to be distributed here in PA.
