Flannel Shoe Clip Bow

By now everyone should know that I'm a vintage girl at heart and as much as I love my black ballet flats, there are some days when they need a little sprucing up. I was offered the opportunity to try out the shoe clips from The Buckle Boutique and I came up with these cute little wool flannel bows. They are so 1950's and so adorable! They require no sewing and with a little fabric glue they are ready to go. A perfect little fall accessory to fit into this years fall trends.

Cut (1)
length of wool felt at 6" x 1" and (1) 1" x 1/2".

Take the long piece and with the “back”
side facing up, dot a bit of glue at each end and fold them into the middle so
they touch. That has created the body of the bow.

Pick up the bow and pinch it between
the pointer finger and thumb, this can be secured with fabric glue.

Take the center wrap and place it
around the center of the body of the bow and secure it at the back with fabric glue.

Then glue the finished bow to the shoe
clip. Let the glue dry and that's it! So Simple, So Cute!

This is what the Buckle Boutique says about their awesome shoe clips!

Heavy Duty DIY Blank Metal Shoe Clips with Black Leatherette (6
pair or 12 pieces) - Our silver colored blank shoe clips are the
best available. They have a super strong but gentle grip that holds the
clip on most shoes, sandals, flip flops or accessories.
The hinge on
this finding is very good!  It is not stiff and is strong enough to not
wiggle around or come apart.  Just right!  The clip base measures .75"
wide by .75" tall.  The circumference of the leatherette disk is 1.25".
These are the BEST
blank shoe clips on the market!  Then when leatherette is added, watch
out!  Best of all, they have been tested for lead and are in compliance
with the CPSC lead standards.  Documentation is available upon request.

Do you want to try them? Use my promo code geek9 for 9% off your entire order at The Buckle Boutique!

Currently, I’m diggin’ Fall

We did a Fall Festival yesterday with The Kid's Irish Dance School. It was lovely even though it was overcast and misty. Here she is on a horse, the worst $2 investment I ever made. Beware of pony rides, they seem all innocent, but when The Kid starts making plans to sell the dogs to afford a horse LOOK OUT!

Watching: Hubs play Fable. Why does it have to be so loud?

Listening to: Pandora, which insists that the Beach Boys are a good substitute for Jimmy Buffett

Thinking about: Crafting – so many ideas so little time.

Trying to figure out: Why a Grown Man would steal a large amount of pumpkins from our roadside stand. (Don't worry, we got his plate number and called the cops. Pumpkin Thievery will not be tolerated this year!)

Looking forward to: Watching my kid dance her new dance. Totally Awesome

Reading: Inside a Haunted House – a children's book that took the tiny person over an hour to read. It was painful!

Making me happy: A nice fall day.

Now time for the Sunday Social!

Grab your Medical Tape and head on over and see the tutorial on how to make this wrapped up mummy.

Furry Fridays – Danielle from Underland to Wonderland

Brought to you weekly by Becky and Steph!

''Always the animal lover I've had 7 hamsters, 5 fish, 4 rabbits, a guinea pig and a dog over time.

Today I have 3, oops, sorry 2 animals/children and one man in my house. Baker and Bunny!
is a 3 year old English Spot rabbit and his name wasn't meant to be
permanent… There were issues sexing him when we bought him as a little
baby bunny and so we called him that until we could tell what he was.
It's lucky that it did stick though because he was wrongly sexed as a
female for almost the 1st year of his life bless him. Living in the
house, Bunny has his own cage (kitted out with edible Harry Potter books
and toys)  in our spare room dubbed 'the rabbit room' and often prances
about after me while I'm pottering about doing housework. He is trained
to potty in a certain place, responds to his name and can go and sit on
a mark you have told him to! In our old house he acted much more like a
dog than a rabbit hopping up onto the sofa for a hug and stuff.
Inline image 2
is my puppy dog. I was never allowed a dog growing up although I adored
visiting my grand parents to play with all of my Granda's working dogs.
He had Border Collies and one Lurcher that he had taken in when it
needed a home, so when in October of 2012 we saw a litter of Collie
Lurcher cross pups I saw it as a sign and my other half arrange for us
to go pick one as an early birthday present.
Now a year old Baker is always receiving comments on how well
trained he is and I hope my Granda would be proud. He has all the basics
down but also gives high 5's, kisses and if you are sad/crying he'll
come and bring you a toy or lick you to cheer you up! As an ex portrait
photographer Baker is now usually my favorite model and is pretty
photogenic. If you like cute and funny videos of puppies be sure to
check out my YouTube as there are plenty of little man on there, including him learning to use his daddys skateboard!

I do a lot of work to promote animal charities, proper animal care,
the use of products that are NON-animal tested and more through my blog
and have even completed a charity skydive to raise money so it should
be clear how strongly I feel about animal welfare. If I could give
advice to anyone choosing a pet it would be to research everything! Look
into a breed that will fit into your life no matter what species. Make
sure you have the time, money, energy and resources to give that pet the
best life you can – don't just choose it for the cuteness factor!''
Danielle blogs at Underland to Wonderland and it will be back in action in October!

Bling Up Your Sneakers! No Tweezer Required!

I just had the opportunity to try out this great new product! While, I have many ideas that I'm going to be posting over the next couple of days, I'm starting off with my shoe revamp!

I have noticed people getting HUGE dollars for sneakers that have been hand embellished with jewels and whatnot. I personally don't have time to hand set all those sparkles. So when I was asked to try the new Dazzling Diamond Self-Adhesive Sticker Sheets from The Buckle Boutique, I knew exactly what my first project would be.

The Buckle Boutique offers several different colors of the Self Adhesive Rhinestone Sticker sheets!!! Here's what they have to say about the product:

Adhesive Rhinestones are a quick and easy way to add bling, sparkle and
shine to cheer boxes, invitations, plastic, glass, fabric and more!
Want to cover a larger surface with continuous rhinestones, but don't
want to place each one by hand?  These sheets are the answer!  A real
time saver!

Here are some of the great points to this fantastic new product:

1. They have a ton of colors and designs available!

2. The sheets are available in 2 sizes, which makes it great for all of us out there with personal cutting machines! (Did you read that? I said it can be cut with a Cricut, just like other vinyls! See how the possibilities just became ENDLESS!!!!)

3. You can also cut it with scissors or a paper cutter, like I am going to show you.

4. The "stones" are actually a resin (liquid)
product that is poured into a mold and baked at a high temperature. They have a consistency of a firm gel. Thus, they can be cut down the

5. If you love the product as much as I do, wholesale opportunities are available for qualified buyers!

Now on to the Shoe project.
I had a pair of well loved Chucks. Here they are. They have been loved. I wanted to give them a new life for the fall so they got a little make over.
First, they got a fresh coat of black fabric paint to bring them back to their former glory. Then, I used some gold nail polish and painted the white sole. A balck sharpie maker to touch up any of the black pinstriping. I used a cream ribbon for the laces. Lastly, the Pièce de résistance is the toe, covered in the adhesive Dazzling Diamond Sticker Sheet in Gold.

To cover the toe, I made a tracing of the toe on tracing paper, then transferred that to the back of the Dazzling Diamond Sticker Sheet and cut it out using everyday kitchen scissors. No tricks, just a simple snip, snip, then I peeled off the back to reveal the sticky side and BAM. I stuck it to the toe of the shoe.
So pretty, so easy. Dazzling Diamond Self Adhesive Sticker Sheets, where have you been all my life?
I hope you like them! If you want to bling out your own sneaks, grab this promo code geek9, for 9% off your order at The Buckle Boutique

Furry Fridays – Jamie of You Gotta Have Hart

Brought to you weekly by Becky and Steph!
Meet Jamie and her fur baby Levi.
T.G.I.F. Folks!
Today I’m guest posting on my new friend Steph’s blog, so I thought I would share it here too!  Her blog is super cute if you are into living Vintage, Crafting & Thrifting! She also hosts Furry Fridays, which brings me to my post today about my fur baby, Levi..
or as he’s registered, “Miller’s Little Wild Child“.

I got this little fella, I was back living at home with my Parent’s,
newly unemployed, and the last thing I needed was another “dog”.  My
Parent’s had gone to Montana for two weeks and while they were gone, I
got a “wild hair”.  I called my friend Nina and we found a Shih Tzu
breeder about 45 minutes away and went to look at babies! When I called
the breeder, she advised me that the puppies were only six weeks old so I
wouldn’t be able to bring one home but I could pick one out, leave a
down payment, and then come back in two weeks to take it home.  I knew
better than that!  Even Nina knew that I had skills and could convince a
blind man to buy a TV– so we were leaving with a puppy!
*Most puppies cannot be sold before eight weeks of age.  This is
because they need to be vaccinated and fully weaned.  (I have worked for
Animal Hospitals, etc and am fully trained, so this is not an issue.  I
would NOT recommend just anyone doing so.  I did sign paperwork stating
that I was fully responsible for any issues that may occur with the
puppy due to it’s age.)

is such a special puppy and has brought so much love and enjoyment to
my life.  I wouldn’t trade him for a million dollars!  He has a crazy
love of tennis balls!  I do not how how this started or even who gave
him his first tennis ball.  He literally goes insane over them. When he
finds one, he will harass you left and right to throw them and when the
night is over, we have to hide them, so that he will quiet down and go
to sleep! Levi is also very spoiled.. he gets plenty of bones and
squeaky toys (which drive me insane because he has to destroy the
squeaker– and usually does so within minutes!).

I have worked for numerous Animal Hospitals, Groomers, Wildlife
Rescues, and more.. I’ve also owned numerous dogs (it feels so bad
calling them that because they were ALL my babies!), but Levi has
surpassed ALL expectations of what a loved pet could be.  He makes me
laugh when my face is stuck on a frown and when I’m crying.. this guy
literally wipes my tears.  While I am a BIG advocate for adopting pets
from your Animal Shelter, and my next pet will be adopted.. Levi has
been the greatest lil guy ever!

I want to leave you with a few tips about Shih Tzu’s and their care:
Tzu’s eyes water, and A LOT!  Their hair will also grow into their eyes
and if not properly groomed, can cause them to lose their eyesight
(from hair poking at their eyeball).  It’s important that you keep this
hair properly groomed and cleaned.  (I’ve actually owned a Shih Tzu that
had an eye removed due to eye trauma)
Tzu’s are prone to ear infections.  They need their ears properly
cleaned and the hair pulled from them on a monthly if not on a every
other month basis.  I DO NOT recommend you doing this on your own.  HAVE
Tzu’s NEED to be groomed, if not brushed.  Their hair WILL get knotted.
If they are not regularly groomed, they can get painfully knotted and
it’s animal abuse.  You can brush them on a daily basis
but I strongly recommend sending them to a trusted groomer because if
you don’t know how to properly brush, you WILL miss the correct areas to
brush that are prone to knots.
you bathe your Shih Tzu.. DO NOT GET WATER IN THEIR NOSE!!! You can
literally drown your dog because their nozzle is so short. (if you don’t
know what you are doing, don’t wash them PLEASE, let someone else do it
or just don’t wash their face!  Also, if you wash them, wash them with
special dog shampoo and BE SURE you rinse them well or you WILL give
them hot spots! Basically, if you think you’ve rinsed them enough- rinse
them more because their hair holds soap more than you know!)
Tzu’s need a good food, preferably one that is NOT canned food and does
NOT have corn starch in it.  Do your research– Grocery store food= not
a good diet.

All in all.. Love your Pet and treat them like family!
