Sugar Skull Shoe Clips

I'm in love with Sugar Skulls and this year I wanted to put
a little pizzazz in my Day of the Dead outfit by sprucing up my ballet flats. A
simple project using the dollar store black roses, Sculpey and the fantastic
shoe clips from The Buckle Boutique.

Start the project by making a skull out of white polymer
clay. Use white clay and roll it into a ball. Squash the ball into a flat
circle shape. Pinch it to make the shape of the skull. Use the eraser end of
pencil to make the divots for the eyes. Bake the clay according to the
directions. Let cool.

Once the skull is cool use a fine tip permanent marker to
draw the face and decoration of the sugar skull. Glue rhinestones in the eye

Next, take apart the black rose, remove all of the plastic
parts from the fake flower. Hot glue the layers of the flower back together and
glue the skull in the center. Glue the shoe clip to the back of the flower.

Now clip the awesome Sugar Skull to the plain black flats
and you're ready for any Halloween festivities.

The Merry-Go-Round Museum

We took a little adventure to Sandusky, OH last weekend and one of our stops was The Merry-Go-Round Museum.

It was awesome! We loved checking out all of the hand-carved animals from as far back as the late 1800's. The museum is located in the old Post Office building which itself is fabulous. The structure is amazing and since it's round it is the perfect location to have an indoor Carousel!!!

I'm not going to ruin anything for you, but the tour guide was amazing! The knowledge of each horse, carver and type/style of horse was astounding. As much as I love a great horse, the menagerie animals are really where it's at. I think the tiger is simply gorgeous.

Of course the (very afforable!) cost of admission includes a ride on the Merry-Go-Round. Totally worth the stop if you're ever in the area!!!

Like a Rhinestone Cowgirl – Custom Halloween Hat

Howdy Y'all. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

Welcome to the Buckle Boutique Halloween Bling Party.

We have have 5 awesome projects to share with you today!

Mine is a quick costume idea:

I found this pink cowgirl hat at the dollar store. It's foam and quite boring. I thought it would look good with a band of the Pink Zebra Dazzling Diamond sticker sheet, wrapped around it!

The project is simple, I cut 2 strips of Dazzling Diamond sheet about an inch wide and 8" long. I peeled the backing off and stuck it around the base of the hat. On the side I created a fake bow by using a 3" long piece of sticker sheet and a 1" x 1.5" piece to make the center wrap of the bow.

So simple, so cute. Pair this with a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt and you can go to the Halloween Party a the next big Country Star!

This is also a great project for little girls parties! What a great party favor to take home!

Did you love it? Of course you did.You want some of those sticker sheets to make your own, right?

Now head over to The Buckle Boutique and take advantage of the savings! This
weekend only, October 19th and 20th, receive 15% off your total order
from The Buckle Boutique! Use code friends15 at checkout! Discount can
not be combined with any other offer, is limited to in stock merchandise
only and is not applicable on custom or previous orders.

Ok, well it's a Hop, So Click here to head on over to Scrapping With Niki to see some cute Treat Bags and Hair Bows!!

The Boy Behind The Geek October Issue

Here's what The Hubs has to say this month to the October questions:
1. Describe yourself in 5 words.
dependable, trustworthy, corny, old-fashioned, furry
2. What is your biggest fear?
Losing my loved ones, my wife and daughter.
3. What is your favorite candy?

Good Italian nougat, or Cadbury creme eggs.

4. What was the best Halloween costume you've ever worn? (include pictures if you have them)
As a kid, I went as a blind person complete with a dog leash and harness that was wired so it stood
out in front of me.  My adult costumes have been much better thanks to my wife, but she says that
anything medieval would be a cop-out.

5. Who is your favorite football team?

the Mean Machine.  I don't follow pro football.

Last year we were Day of the Dead Skeletons. But look at this picture with all the uninvited guests. (orbs)

Here is a picture of Merida and King Fergus. This is at the Ren faire but it was the secondary costume for last year.

I rounded up the pictures of all the Bento Boxes that I have packed in that couple weeks. Luckily my little one has been a buyer lately, so not too many boxes but then ones I sent are cute. SO cute in fact, that I received a note from the Head of Cafeteria Staff saying that, "The Kid's lunches are the talk of the town." How awesome is that!?!?!

My Favorite of all was the:

This picture shows the sandwiches better with Frankie and Clawdeen on them.

Hope you enjoyed our boxes. All of these boxes took less than 15 minutes to make.

Floating Ghost Pendants

These are so cute, I loved making them. They are feather light and with the nylon filament it looks like they are floating from a distance! Use them as necklace pendents or hanging decorations.

They are so simple to make even the littlest of hands can help. Come on over to Think Crafts and see my full tutorial on how to make these using white Air Dry clay (I used Model Magic by Crayola) and a permanent black marker.

Get your spook on!

Fastest Manicure Ever even with Bling

Ok are you ready for the fastest way to get your nails ready for a night out. It took me 5 minutes from start to finish, can you believe it? Plus they even have the extra pizazz of having some rhinestone awesomeness.

Are you ready? GO!

First wash and dry your hands.

Grab a bottle of Matte nail polish, I used a purple.

Start painting your nails, paint all of them. Now, if you think they need another coat, start back at the beging because they are already dry! Finish the second coat.

The Matte polish dries so fast that you can wash your hands with a little nail brush to clean up any stray polish on your cuticles.

Last, snip a couple of rhinestones from the Dazzling Diamond sticker sheet which you can get at The Buckle Boutique, peel the back off and stick to your nail. Press firmly and head out the door.
